In the period 2022-2024, the German Research Foundation will again provide financial support for open access publications at TU Dortmund University. The following funding criteria apply from 2022 onwards:

The University Library will bear all article processing charges (APCs) incurred for publications in „genuine“ (gold) open access journals, provided that your department has compiled a positive list which includes these journals.

Furthermore, the University Library will also support open access publications in hybrid journals, provided that “transformative agreements” are in place. The objective of such agreements is to transform subscription-only journals into gold open access journals. It is then the authors or institutions who pay for publication in the respective journal and no longer the readers accessing the journal’s contents.

The University Library has concluded transformative agreements with the following publishers:

  • Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)
  • Cambridge University Press
  • Hogrefe
  • Institute of Physics
  • Royal Society of Chemistry
  • SAGE
  • Springer (DEAL)
  • Wiley (DEAL)

If you publish results from a project funded by the German Research Foundation in a „genuine“ (gold) open access journal, you will also receive an allowance towards the APCs. The University Library will handle the invoice for you if you notify us of the WBS element („PSP-Element“, cost center) to be debited.

Any questions?
