The Publication Guideline of TU Dortmund University aims to make your research more visible and to improve the attribution of your research to you and to TU Dortmund University. TU Dortmund University Library supports you in this endeavour.

Increase your Visibility as an Author

Bibliometric Databases like Web of Science und Scopus automatically aggregate publication profiles for authors. In the process, however, publications are not always assigned correctly. TU Dortmund University Library offers to check your profiles, have them corrected and advise you on other academic profiles such as Google Scholar Citations, Publons etc.

ORCID iD (Open Researcher and Contributor iD) is a unique identifier for researchers that allows them to assign their research results to their person. Every researcher can personally register for an ORCID iD and use it throughout the research process, e.g. when applying for research projects or submitting publications. TU Dortmund University Library provides advice on the optimal use of ORCID iD and offers an integration of data form your ORCID record to your personal publication lists as well as importing publication data into your ORCID record.

The University Bibliography curated by TU Dortmund University Library showcases the research of TU Dortmund researchers. To be included in the bibliography, a document must be published, i.e. it must have been made available to the public for a certain period of time in printed or electronic form. Digital documents must be available in a stable or long-term manner, e.g. in a repository. Publications may be entered manually, but you can also grant TU Dortmund University Library the right to import publications from your ORCID record or send us publication lists.

TU Dortmund University Library offers assistance as well as financial support for Open Access journal publications.

The visibility of your research can also be increased by publishing the associated research data, e.g. in data journals or high quality repositories, provided that the protection of personal data, copyright and the legitimate interests of the authors and third parties is ensured.

Self-published research of TU Dortmund University – working papers and other self-published research results, activity reports etc. – are subject to mandatory deposit at the designated legal deposit libraries (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek, Stadt- und Landesbibliothek Münster). TU Dortmund University Archive offers to deposit printed or electronic copies of your self-published documents for you.

This does not apply to documents published with a publisher, since in these cases the publisher deposits the mandatory copies, and to self-published dissertations, in these cases TU Dortmund University Library will deposit the mandatory copies for you.

Affiliation and Funding Acknowledgments

The correct attribution of your publications to TU Dortmund University increases the visibility of the university in the research community. As a member or affiliate of TU Dortmund, please always state your affiliation to TU Dortmund University in your publications, in accordance with the Publication Guideline of TU Dortmund University. Affiliation with joint research projects or other alliances must also be identified.

Third-party funding must be acknowledged according to the requirements of the funding organizations. The funding code (Förderkennzeichen) must be stated. In the case of multiple sources of third-party funds, all funders need to be named.
