What we can do for you?

In print or electronic, Dortmund University Library offers lots of books, journals and other media. Your subject librarian can help you with subject-specific research in your particular field of study. Our subject librarians are charged with acquisition decisions in their field. Please counsult your subject librarian if you have questions, suggestions or wishes.

Order Requests

You can send your order request for academic media via email or personally to your subject librarian - or use our book suggestion form.
We order books, journals, databases and other media funded by budgets or project funds of faculties, institutes and professorial chairs with a library discount, including your local library.

Media Delivery

  • Internal Delivery Service
    We send articles from any journal in the collection of Dortmund University Library free of charge as a PDF document via email. A link to this special service for academic staff can be found in catalog plus at the respective journal.

  • Interlibrary Loan
    You can order books and journal articles that are not held on site via interlibrary loan and other document delivery services.

We compile books and articles for you in a reserve book collection while your course is in session. For your electronic reserve book collection we digitize excerpts from books and essays from journals. Your students can then access the literature at any time. Whole books are placed on a special shelf as needed and cannot be borrowed during this time.

Subject-specific Help and Tailored Training

Our subject librarians are your contact persons. They can help you with subject-specific research in your field and are responsible for acquisition decisions. They collaborate closely with the faculties. Optionally we offer courses due to individual needs and present databases and other search tools.

TU Dortmund University Research Publications

Report your current publications as well as previous publications authored during your time at TU Dortmund University. You can either add publications manually or link your ORCID record to make your publications visible in TU Dortmund University Research Publications.

Open Access Publishing

In TU Dortmund University's Open Access declaration, you as a scientist are encouraged to make your publications freely accessible. You can apply for financial support to cover the costs incurred: OA publishing at TU Dortmund University

Open Educational Resources: OER

Do you want to use and develop freely accessible, high-quality educational resources for your teaching? The Open Educational Resources Advisory Service is a cooperation between UB and the Center for Higher Education (zhb). It offers a first point of contact for the creation and use of OER. Catalog plus - Library Catalog and more

Find journal articles, book chapters and more in our new catalog plus. Use search limits to narrow searches and increase precision. They can be used one at a time or in combinations.

Using the Library from Home

You can access a large number of electronic resources off campus if you are affiliated to the TU Dortmund and hold an UniMail account. These are important specialised databases, a large number of electronic journals and e-books.

Information Centre for Technology and Patents (ITP)

The Information Centre for Technology and Patents provides services regarding industrial property rights, patents, registered designs (protection of technical inventions), trademarks, (protection of conformance marks or corporate names) and industrial design und and gives advice in standards and in technical regulations.

University Archive

The TU Dortmund University Archive provides assistance with record retention procedures or document withdrawal according to university or scientific problems.
