Starting college raises many questions—including those about using the university library (UB). To help you be well-prepared, we’ve compiled the most important information on searching for literature, borrowing materials, and study spaces into four short videos.

Library Account & TU App

All students at TU Dortmund University automatically have a library account. In this video, we show you how to access your library account and digital ID through the TU App and how to access our electronic collections from home via VPN.

Searching for literature in Catalog plus

Catalog Plus is your one-stop resource for books, e-books, and articles. Watch the video to learn how to conduct targeted searches, access full-text articles, and request print items from the storage library.

Borrowing, Renewing, and Returning

The standard loan period for books is four weeks. In the video, you'll learn what the automatic renewal means and why it’s important to check your Unimail inbox regularly.

Studying in the library

Individual study spaces or group study rooms? In this video , we explain how to reserve group study rooms online and use the Study Location Map to find other available study spaces on campus.
