"Locomotives and People - Railways Move the TU Dortmund": Exhibition and accompanying event

The library of the German Society for Railway History (DGEG) is a special collection with approximately 60,000 books, periodicals and timetables. DGEG and the University Library are celebrating the anniversary of their cooperation with an exhibition and an accompanying event. The exhibition opening "Loks und Leute" (Locomotives and People) and the lecture event will take place on TU Dortmund University Open House Day (22.10.2022).

Accompanying event to "Locomotives and People" at the Open House Day [1].

An entertaining lecture will take a closer look at the history and present of the long-standing cooperation between the DGEG [2] and the UB Dortmund. The hybrid event (participation also possible via zoom) is open to all interested parties.

  •         Lecture by Rainer Kolbe (Hamburg): How I came to the DGEG, who it is at all and what then became of it

[2] The German Society for Railway History was founded in Karlsruhe in 1967. It is the largest German association of people interested in railroad history, which maintains association activities and railroad museums at various locations in Germany. Dortmund University Library has been in charge of the DGEG library since 1972. It contains, among other things, specialist literature on railroad and mobile history topics and on the history of railroads from a social, technical, legal and cultural perspective. The holdings are freely accessible in the 1st basement of the Central Library (shelf marks EGM and EGZ).
