In December 2021, the University Library evaluated the campus offering of Heise Publishing with a survey. Now we have permanently included https://www.heise.de/plus/ in our offer. The following offers are thus available to all members of the TU Dortmund University:

  • Heise magazines c't, iX, Make Magazin, Mac & i, c't Fotografie, and MIT Technology Review, each as of 2016: https://www.heise.de/select
  • heise+ articles on the Heise websites and news feeds.

The access to the offers always works if you are in the campus network of the TU Dortmund, for example via VPN. Attention: Access via ForcePoint VPN can cause problems when accessing Heise, because Heise is also accessible via IPv6, but ForcePoint does not route the IPv6 traffic through the Uninetz, but directly to Heise, as if you were not using a VPN. The ITMC is working on a solution. Possible workarounds:

  • disabling IPv6 on your home network or
  • on your computer, or
  • using other VPN services, like PulseSecure, if available, or
  • using another VPN client, such as the internal macOS one with Forcepoint's credentials.
  • Can I use the apps from Heise-Verlag? Unfortunately, this is not possible with campus licenses, as access is based on IP address and there are no personalized user accounts.
  • Can I read the articles on the go? You can also use the offerings on heise.de on a mobile device, as long as you are on the campus network, for example via eduroam or via VPN (TU members only).
  • Can I also read/download the articles offline? You can save the articles of all journals on https://www.heise.de/select or print them as PDFs. The original layout is not directly downloadable.
  • If you have anyfurther questions, please contact Lukas Lerche, subject specialist for computer science.
