Library visitors find their way around better in future: The books will get uniform shelf marks in a major campaign in the next few months, and instead of two different shelving systems, there will only be one. This is one of many preparations for the new Library building.

The majority of the approx. 200,000 printed books currently in the Emil-Figge-Bibliothek are being given new location numbers ("shelf marks"). The individual volumes will be pulled from the shelves and given new labels.

This will make it easier for you to find your way around, as there will then only be one shelving system: according to specialist groups and, within these groups, according to consecutive numbers. Due to the fact that some of the books from the old Central Library have also been moved in, two different systems currently exist side by side.

From Monday, July 15, a company will carry out the work, which will take about four months. During this time, it may be a little noisier than usual, especially in the service desk area and in front of the shelf for reserved books.

The books will always be accessible! If you cannot find something, please ask at the service desk.
