Dual Degree Program in Library Science and Communication: Apply Now

Information on the Dual Study Program at Dortmund University Library starting in 2027

Starting in August 2027, Dortmund University Library will offer two spots in a dual degree program in Library Science and Digital Communication. Earn your Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Library Science and Digital Communication!

The 3½-year combined degree and apprenticeship program begins on August 23, 2027. If you have already completed the FaMI training, the duration of the apprenticeship may be shortened.

You can expect the following theoretical and practical tasks, for example:

Acquire foundational knowledge in the areas of the digital information society, library management, information services and cataloging, as well as IT and media
Gain familiarity with all areas of a large academic library
Work in traditional library areas as well as in new, innovative service offerings such as research data management, publication support, or makerspaces
Learn how a modern academic library supports its users
Support various teams and actively contribute to exciting projects
Independently oversee an innovative project during your practicum semester and while working on your bachelor’s thesis
