"1700 Years of Jewish Life in Germany" - under this motto, the existence of Jewish life on the territory of present-day Germany and in Europe will be commemorated in 2021. Starting from December 11, 321, when the Roman Emperor Constantine issued an edict allowing Jews to hold municipal offices, Jewish life became an important part of Europe.
Shortly before this anniversary, the University Library licensed a comprehensive bio-biographical reference work on German-speaking Jewry as a new database.
The database presents information on more than 20,000 German-speaking Jews who have contributed to literature, philosophy, religion, or art, music, and politics, among other fields. This collection is supplemented by full texts available in open access.
